| Obectives: |

- The participant will be able to identify the common procedures in which moderate
sedation is appropriate.

The participant will be able to explain the criteria for the proper level of sedation
on the sedation continuum and be able to differentiate between the different levels
of sedation.

The participant will be able to identify common medications used in moderate
sedation and their effect/side effects.

The participant will be able to understand when the need to rescue a patient from
deep sedation arises.
- The participant will be familiar with the proper reversal agents for opioids and
benzodiazepines commonly used in moderate sedation.

The participant will understand the factors that influence patient selection for
moderate sedation.

The participant will be able to explain the proper monitoring of patients
undergoing moderate sedation.

The participant will be familiar with the sources of guidance of practice regarding
moderate sedation.
