| Obectives: |

- The participant will be able to identify the common procedures in which moderate sedation of the pediatric patient is appropriate.
- The participant will be able to explain the criteria for the proper level of sedation on the sedation continuum and be able to differentiate between the different levels of sedation.
- The participant will be able to identify common medications used in pediatric moderate sedation and their effect/side effects.
- The participant will be able to understand when the need to rescue a patient from deep sedation arises.
- The participant will be familiar with the proper reversal agents for opioids and benzodiazepines commonly used in moderate sedation.
- The participant will understand the factors that influence patient selection for pediatric sedation.
- The participant will be able to explain the proper monitoring of pediatric patients undergoing sedation.
- The participant will be familiar with the sources of guidance of practice regarding pediatric sedation.
